The Universal Joint/Coupling and Universal Quick Joint design methodology is to tailor the joint to a cable. Therefore there may be instances where a change to a cable’s design, materials or manufacturing process makes an existing qualification invalid. It is therefore recommended that the customer obtains verification from the cable manufacturer or supplier, prior to purchasing, that the UJ/UC/UQJ qualification status of the cable to be supplied is still valid.

Note 2: ASN Fiber Soft Seal Restraints: The UJ Consortium recommends users to consult the Cable System Maintenance Manual or to make contact with the UJ Consortium design authority to assess if a Fiber Soft Seal Restraint is required in any given joint combination.
